Novel Non-Protein Biomarkers for Early Detection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Review

Ghassan K. Abou-Alfa, Lin Wu, Augusto Villanueva

Engineering 2021, Volume 7, Issue 10,   Pages 1369-1374 doi: 10.1016/j.eng.2021.02.020

Abstract:

Early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) while in its early stages is critical for reducing HCC mortality in high-risk patients. However, highly sensitive and specific surveillance biomarkers for early-stage HCC detection are still lacking. In recent years, great efforts have been made to research tumor-derived molecular features that are detectable in circulation, such as circulating tumor deoxyribonucleic
acid and circulating tumor ribonucleic acid, in order to explore their potential as non-invasive biomarker candidates in many tumor types. In this review, we summarize current studies on these new approaches and their application in early HCC detection.

Application progress of lymphography in oncology

Yang YU, Jibin LIU, Lixue YIN

Frontiers of Medicine 2009, Volume 3, Issue 1,   Pages 13-19 doi: 10.1007/s11684-009-0016-7

Abstract: Lymphography is often used for the diagnosis of lymphatic metastasis in oncology. Determination of lymphatic metastasis is extremely important for accurate cancer staging, which may directly guide the clinical therapeutic scheme. In recent years, the technology of lymphography has developed rapidly on the basis of traditional lymphography, with the appearance of computed tomography (CT) lymphography, nuclear magnetic resonance (MR) lymphography, contrast-enhanced lymphosonography, and so on; the diagnostic accuracy has also been improved. The imaging principles and methods of these various technologies of lymphography are reviewed in this paper, and their applications and significance in oncology are also discussed in detail.
